This is SkimGuard's Automated tier. A license is locked to one tier — Automated (always-on monitoring via network or desktop agent) or Handheld (staff scan with the app). SkimGuard scans Bluetooth today and adds new wireless detection technologies over time as the threat environment evolves.
RUCKUS covers both indoor and outdoor payment environments: R-series (indoor) APs for stores, lobbies, and concourses, and T-series (outdoor) APs for forecourts, plazas, and stadium bowls. Those APs report their Bluetooth observations through a controller, and SkimGuard connects to whichever one you run — the RUCKUS IoT Controller, SmartZone, or the cloud-managed RUCKUS One platform. Whatever the mix of indoor and outdoor coverage, the same detection layer sits on top.

Its RF engineering is designed to hold up when thousands of devices are packed into one space. Those are exactly the distracted, high-traffic points of sale where a Bluetooth skimmer can hide in plain sight: a concession stand mid-event, a hotel front desk at check-in, a parking kiosk on the way out. If your RUCKUS network already blankets those spaces, it can watch their payment terminals at the same time.
Setup differs slightly by how your RUCKUS environment is managed. With RUCKUS One (cloud), authorization is handled through the cloud console, so there's nothing on-site to stand up. With SmartZone or the RUCKUS IoT Controller (on-prem), the connection is configured against the controller you already operate. Either way the outcome is the same: your RUCKUS APs forward Bluetooth telemetry to SkimGuard, detections roll up into one dashboard, and no new hardware goes on the wall.

Not necessarily — it depends on how your network is managed. RUCKUS APs can route their Bluetooth observations through the RUCKUS IoT Controller, SmartZone, or RUCKUS One. If you're already cloud-managed with RUCKUS One, there's nothing extra on-site to stand up; if you run an on-prem controller, SkimGuard connects to that. Either way, the APs you already own become the skimmer sensors.
SkimGuard works with both RUCKUS R-series indoor APs and T-series outdoor APs, so indoor checkout areas and outdoor payment points like forecourts and plazas are covered by the same integration. The APs forward their Bluetooth observations through your RUCKUS controller to SkimGuard.
