What you need
Catalyst 9800 controllers, the Catalyst 9100 access points they manage, and Cisco Spaces connected to your network. If you already run Catalyst 9800 with Cisco Spaces, everything is in place. If you don't run Cisco Spaces yet, that's the piece to add first.
Catalyst is not Meraki

What SkimGuard finds
- Skimmers that send stolen card data over a wireless signal.

What it can't find
- Skimmers that don't send a signal, like a thin overlay or a swapped reader. That's what the guided inspection is for.

Can Cisco Catalyst detect card skimmers?

Is Catalyst the same as Meraki?
No. They're two separate Cisco Wi-Fi systems. Catalyst connects through Cisco Spaces. Meraki is set up in the Meraki dashboard.
Do I need Cisco Spaces?
Yes. On Catalyst, Cisco Spaces is how the information leaves your network and reaches SkimGuard.
Do I need new hardware?

What kinds of skimmers can it find?
Skimmers that send a wireless signal, mainly over Bluetooth. It can't find ones that don't, like a fake card-slot cover. An all-clear is a good sign, not a guarantee, so staff should still look at readers as part of their routine.
