Train the people who work at your card readers — and have the records ready when someone asks.

SkimGuard teaches your team how to spot and report a tampered card reader, and keeps track of who’s done it. Lessons run right in the app in 22 languages — or load your own — and you can see who’s trained, who’s overdue, and pull a clean record whenever someone asks. It covers what assessors look for under PCI’s staff-training rule (9.5.1.3), and it’s included free with every business plan — most owners would otherwise pay for a separate training service.

Train your team

Train the people at the card reader — and prove it.

The idea is simple: anyone who works around your card readers should know how to spot tampering and who to tell. The hard part is proving it — showing, on the day someone asks, that everyone was trained. SkimGuard does both, and it lines up with PCI’s staff-training rule (9.5.1.3).

Built for the people who don’t have a login

Cashiers, pump attendants, and field techs usually don’t have a company login. So SkimGuard uses a simple staff roster: you add each person with an employee number, they enter that number and a PIN they pick on the shared store device, take the lessons, and it’s credited to them. No per-person fee, no email needed.

Your team’s language, or your own program

The built-in lessons come in all 22 languages the app supports, and each person sees them in their phone’s language when a translation exists. Prefer to use your own training? Switch to your-own-program mode and a manager records that a named person completed it — which program, which version, the date, who signed off, and an optional certificate. Every record is marked SkimGuard or your-own, so exports stay honest.

Coverage you can actually show

A new hire shows as overdue from day one, so nobody slips through. You can see where each location stands — trained, expiring soon, or overdue — and reminders go out as training runs down. Export the whole thing to CSV or PDF, including a full history of every completion, retake, and correction, with the exact lesson version each person took.

What the training covers

The four topics the rule requires — plus how to inspect.

SkimGuard helps you document and evidence 9.5.1.3. It is not a certification of PCI compliance, and it is not a substitute for a full Requirement 12.6 security-awareness program (phishing, acceptable use). Your overall compliance is assessed by your QSA or acquirer.

Included, not extra

Meeting this rule usually means buying a separate training system. Here it’s free.

It comes with both business plans — no separate training system, no per-person fee, no add-on. For a lot of owners, the training alone is worth the subscription.
