Guides / For businesses

Ask your assistant about your own coverage.

If you run locations that take card payments — or you're a SkimGuard reseller — your assistant can answer operational questions about your own SkimGuard coverage: which sites are overdue for a scan, what devices turned up at a location, whether your scanners are online, and (for resellers) your merchants and earnings.

This uses a paid SkimGuard tier and your SkimGuard account, which is what separates it from the free consumer lookups.

First, connect SkimGuard to your assistant. Then read the sign-in note below — it's the one extra step businesses need.

Signing in (the one difference from consumer use)

The consumer tools are anonymous. Your own business data isn't — you have to prove it's yours. There are two ways, depending on your assistant:

  • Hosted assistants (Claude.ai, ChatGPT): just ask for your data. The first time, SkimGuard shows a one-time consent screen where you sign in with your SkimGuard account and approve access. After that it just works. Nothing to paste.
  • Desktop / developer clients (Claude Desktop, Cursor, etc.): generate an API key in your SkimGuard portal (Business, Partner, or Data Licensee plan → MCP API access) and add it to the connector as an X-MCP-Key header.

Either way, you only ever see your own locations or merchants — the sign-in is what scopes it to you.

Don't have a paid plan yet? The consumer lookups still work for spot-checks without an account. The tools below need a Business, Partner, or Data Licensee subscription.

Business tier

For a merchant with SkimGuard locations.

Case 1 — Which sites need attention this morning

Paste into your assistant
Using SkimGuard, which of my locations are overdue for a scan? List the stalest ones first.

Turns “keep every site scanned” into a short daily worklist instead of something you have to remember to check.

Case 2 — What was seen at a specific site

Paste · edit the store
Show me the Bluetooth devices SkimGuard saw at my downtown store in the last week, and flag anything suspicious.

Useful after an alert, or when a location just feels off — you get the actual devices behind the verdict, not just a red/green light.

Case 3 — Are my scanners alive

Paste into your assistant
Are all my SkimGuard scanners online and reporting? Tell me any that have gone quiet.

For always-on hardware or agent scanners, this catches a unit that's dropped offline before it turns into a coverage gap you didn't know you had.

Partner tier

For SkimGuard resellers.

Case 4 — How your book is doing

Paste into your assistant
Using SkimGuard, summarize scan activity across the merchants I've referred — who's active, and is anyone's coverage slipping?

Case 5 — Where your money stands

Paste into your assistant
What are my current SkimGuard commission totals, and am I clear to be paid out?

This one also tells you plainly whether your payouts are blocked on finishing Stripe verification — the single most common “where's my money” question, answered before you have to ask support.

Data Licensee tier

For aggregate risk data.

For customers licensing SkimGuard's dataset (insurers, researchers, networks):

Paste into your assistant
Using SkimGuard, show aggregate skimmer risk by US state for the last 30 days, and the device/manufacturer prevalence trends.

Aggregate only — no individual locations, businesses, or people. Same numbers you'd pull from the licensing portal, now answerable in conversation.

The honest limits still apply

Coverage tools, not guarantees.

Everything from the consumer ground rules holds here too: SkimGuard detects skimmers that transmit a Bluetooth signal, a clear scan isn't a guarantee, and a location with no recent scan is unknown, not safe. For a business that means: the tools tell you where your coverage is thin, so you can go close the gap — that's the point of the stale-location and scanner-health checks.

Get set up

Put your coverage in the chat.

Connect your assistant, then mint an MCP API key in your portal — Business in the B2B portal, Partner in the partner portal, Data Licensee in the licensing portal.
