Free skimmer detection
SkimGuard checks for card skimmers at gas pumps, ATMs, and checkout terminals — and warns you before you swipe. Now scans automatically when you arrive.
Why this exists
Skimmers are illegal devices criminals attach to gas pumps, ATMs, and checkout terminals. They're installed in under 30 seconds, look identical to the real thing, and grew 77% year over year — compromising more than 243,000 debit cards in a single recent year, according to FICO.
Retailers have the visibility — the devices appear on their property — but little incentive to detect or disclose. The reputation risk outweighs a loss they don't directly bear.
Banks absorb the losses. Insurers ultimately cover them. Consumers eat the fraud and the hassle. The parties with the exposure have no operational visibility into where skimmers actually are.
The industry has spent decades trying to protect card data after it's stolen. Nobody is detecting the theft itself. We close that gap.
How it works
SkimGuard scans for the wireless signals that skimmers use to transmit stolen card data. When something looks wrong, you'll know before you reach for your card. Every detection makes the network stronger for everyone nearby.
